"Being your best is not so much about overcoming the barriers other people place in front of you as it is about overcoming the barriers we place in front of ourselves. It has nothing to do with how many times you win or lose. It has no relation to where you finish in a race or whether you break world records. But it does have everything to do with having the vision to dream, the courage to recover from adversity and the determination never to be shifted from your goals."

NSWC is the home of the Marlins Summer Swimming Club

Did you know Paul Kariya was a Marlin? How about Grant Connell? Wade Bartok was also a Marlin. And you can be a Marlin too!

Fun and fitness is the real deal with the NSWC Marlins summer swim team. What better way to spend your summer? Swimming significantly increases cardio fitness, and provides great cross-training for hockey players and other athletes in their off season. While working to achieve personal goals, swimmers benefit from being part of a larger group - camaraderie is alive and well within the Marlins “family”. The sport brings together children of all ages, enabling the whole family to participate together. The Marlins experience can be either competitive or recreational, and either way, our coaches will provide excellent skill development for all levels of ability. All your swimmer needs to do is be able to swim one length of the pool.

But the season isn’t just about swimming lengths – lots of social events including team dinners, movies, scavenger hunts and water slides keep it exciting and worth the work in the pool. At the end of the season we traditionally take a strong team to the provincial championships, which will be held in August 2013 in Coquitlam, BC.
